Running out of ideas? 14 ways to increase sales

You already do the daily regimen of sharing, following, relisting, SEO on listings, making offers to likers. Still not getting enough sales?

What is Poshmark Sharing

What else can you try?

1) Recent Bundles

One way is to go through all the old bundles, buyers made but didn't buy. Buyers send a signal when they put an item into a bundle. They either want a discount and/or have a private discussion.Going through these bungles and offering discounts at least once a week is a great tool to use.

2) Community shares from top Poshmark sellers with large followers

Another counter-intuitive point is to sharing closets of select poshers who have hundreds of thousands of followers. We have a feature that enables you to it with a click of a button. We share from these poshers listings and when they return shares, you get a very large audience i.e. the hundreds of thousands of followers.

More reach, more sales!

3) List in other marketplaces

There are a large number of platforms like eBay, Mercari, Depop etc. We have written extensively about them. Another one that is underrated is FB Marketplace. It is very good for selling locally which can reduce shipping. You can pick one platform as the main one and use tools like Vendoo or ListPerfectly to cross-list. I recommend Poshmark as the first platform.

4) Offer coupons to repeat customers

Repeat buyers are a great source to keep sales consistent. Once you build the relationship, it is best to keep it alive by following them, asking them to follow you.

Using our Poshmark bot, you can easily identify if a buyer is a repeat buyer and send a private discount.

You can also ask buyers to leave a love note if they are truly satisfied with the product.

5) Welcome new Poshers

We all remember how foreign things were when we first started. Over time we experience the great buying/selling experience at Poshmark.

Welcoming is a great way to build relationships with new Poshers. They are new to the platform, sending a message to them and showing some rope builds trust.

We have a targeted list consists of new Poshers. You can follow them and they will follow you back. If interested you can send them a message through Meet the New Poshers page.

6) Monitor likes, sending offer to likers

I still get happy when somebody likes my listing. It is a sense of accomplishment for me.

By staying on top of the news feed, you can easily see new likes. Consider making an offer right away.

I made a large number of sales doing that where buyers see my offer and get engaged through a bundle or purchase right away.

Another strategy is to make an offer and create a bundle and offer free shipping.

7) Build trust

One thing that is underutilized is ratings and love notes. When I am buying from Poshmark, I always check about page and look for love notes.

As you know love notes are only from 5-star ratings. I like when a seller shares a picture of their rating distribution.

Adding these ratings greatly helps in building trust. I noticed when I add that picture I don't get as many, are these authentic/real type of questions.

One shortcut is to add this picture to Meet the Posher listing and always share it from About to keep it on top.

The best thing about Poshmark is you can sell almost anything in fashion, luxury items such as jewelry, bags, shoes, and clothes. Sheer volume of listings can be intimidating at first. How do you get ahead in the competition? Before creating your listing here are some tips to help you sell quickly!

8) Find potential buyers

Don’t wait for buyers to find you, you can go to them. Target the potential customers according to their interests such as brand, size, style, or price. At a party, you can filter the buyers using the filtering option, then you follow them and find what got them interested. Poshmark has rules on tagging people and commenting. If you use it effectively it is a good tool, this way buyers see your note on their news page.

9) Never miss special days

This is an obvious one. People tend to buy items for the upcoming special day or the season. If Valentine's Day is on the way, people tend to buy romantic gifts, luxury items come to mind. If it is summertime, buyers are more likely to buy bikinis, swimwear, sandals, shorts, and tops. You can organize your closet to show items appropriate for the special days and season.

10) Consider relisting

The relisting refers to deleting your item that you posted on Poshmark, copying pasting all the information and posting it again. You can do it manually or simply use the copy button.

  • Go to the listing you want to relist
  • Click on Edit Listing
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page
  • Click Copy Listing
  • Hit Yes
When you copy a listing by using the copy button, the new title starts with the word “copy”. Don’t forget to delete it.

Some sellers don’t like relisting because the new listing doesn’t copy over the likes and comments. Yes you lose all likes! As a seller what do you prefer, likes or making the sale? Keep in mind, the item should be over 60 days old to use the copy listing feature.

Why does it matter to show up as a new listing? Poshmark’s algorithm shows the most recently shared listings on top. More importantly new listings show up in the “Just In” category. Buyers who are strictly looking at the newest listings, will see your item if you relist.

When you relist your items,

  1. You will reach more of your followers. Maybe one of your followers would fall in love with your item, but she did not check Poshmark the day you posted and simply hasn’t seen it. By posting it again, you’ll increase the potential view from your followers.
  2. You will reach people who don’t follow you as well. Your items will be shown in the just-shared section and will have fresh views. On Poshmark, there are a lot of sellers and new products are in every day, so be one of the new ones to get a higher place on the feed.
  3. Now you have a chance to polish your listing. Think about what might be the reason why the product was not sold in the first place, and what you can do differently to close the sale this time. Check out our post that we shared some photography techniques that might help you.

What is the downside? Let’s say your item got a lot of likes and the idea of deleting it makes you feel like you are losing something valuable. Likes are good because they increase the chances of a sale. However, what is the benefit of having likes if nobody buys your item? It means the very existential reason for having likes is not working at the moment. Therefore, losing likes doesn't really matter. Don’t hesitate to relist your item.  Listing new items daily, and relisting the oldest items often helps a lot in getting attention. You can use Poshmark's search tool to find out what buyers are searching for. In addition to listing more frequently, pricing properly, having good photos and good descriptions is very important. Also don't forget about buyers searching for items, having a good SEO helps significantly.

Instagram

Instagram is a highly visual place, and its focus is now more on videos than photographs. They regularly update the app to make sure video-based features like Reels are easy to reach, by doing things like placing the Reels button to the center of the main bottom menu.

You can share reels or IGTV videos in which you combine the pieces you are selling, and show people how stylish the pieces are. Reels are 15 seconds of videos with music in the background. You can find sounds and use them directly from other Reels. Before filming, you’ll choose the length (up to 15 seconds), press the capture button, and begin recording after the countdown. Then you can post it with a caption and hashtags. There, it’s a good idea to tell the viewers that the pieces that have been shown are available on your Poshmark account.

IGTV allows you to post longer videos. It's a good opportunity if you do not just want to show your product but also talk about how amazing it is. In addition to that, you can take longer outfit videos. For example, if you are selling a handbag, you can talk about how it fits with many different outfits and show 5 different outfits with the same bag. Then you can simply tell that the handbag is available on your Poshmark account.

Pinterest

The good thing about Pinterest is that every photo posted there leads to another page when you click them. You can upload your closet and link to your Poshmark page.

Facebook

Facebook has a feature that other social media platforms generally do not have: Groups. You can join private Poshmark groups and interact with other buyers and sellers. Being a part of a community always useful, you will not only be able to reach a larger group of potential buyers, but you can also get tips and tricks that are shared by other sellers.

12) Tighten your listing titles and descriptions

Google and other search engines index the listings from Poshmark. Therefore titles and descriptions are very important. As a seller, I take advantage of the title, I don't put any emojis there and try to use as many keywords as possible. Similarly in the description, I use all keywords, make bullet points and add hashtags. Using a tool like Grammarly helps with the typos. Try searching your listing from Google, see if you are ranking. It takes time to rank, therefore don't relist within the first 30 days.

13) Consider adding to inventory

It sounds counterproductive. I am not selling, why should I add more. Firstly scoring some sales will boost your confidence. Secondly the most listing you have the better it is. When buyers see a large closet, they gain more trust. You can take extra steps on what to add. I use the search and look at sold items across many categories and gain an understanding of what buyers want. I then try to source similar items. Selling something that is in high demand is much easier.

14) Join Reddit Poshmark Subreddit and Facebook Poshmark Groups

Now is the time you need to connect with other sellers. You need some encouragement. Groups are great for this. You can start a post, get a feeling of what other sellers are going through. These groups are of tremendous value, I learned a ton.
